Just Pretending...

I know I am an adult, but sometimes I like to pretend. As a child when I would have to do my chores I would create elaborate soap operas in my mind to help me get through the drudgery. I find myself still "pretending", to trick myself into trying or doing things "not me". This picture was me pretending that I am a photographer with a fabulous camera trying to capture on film what I saw. Sometimes when I clean my house I pretend I am ????(anonymous friend who is a fabulous house cleaner) and I take care of the little junk piles that normally I am immune to. I find that I use this technique more times than I will share (can't give away all my secrets)probably because I am surrounded by such fabulous women each with their own unique gifts. Do you have any secrets or tricks to becoming a better person???

I love the MUSIC! Banana Pancakes is one of my favorites. I like to "pretend" I am the person in that song. Having the luxury of laying in bed in the morning.

So I KNEW we were bonded in more ways than one. I am a "pretender" too. I do just what you say. If I see something I want to become, I pretend that is me until it becomes more me. For example, I had a friend in Illinois who told me that as long as her bed was made, she could have a good day. Well, I wanted to be better at making my bed but up until that point in my couple years of marriage, it was not a consistant habit. So I "pretended" that I too would have a better day if my bed was made. I quickly became better at my bed making. I still think about it sometimes when I make my bed in the morning.
We will have to share stories of our make belive lives some time when they are not so public. :)

Good topic for Trina's blog don't ya think...

That's a great topic! I'll be working on that one.

Also, I love the picture!

When I was visiting two of my favorite friends in Idaho a few years ago, one of them said, "You should move up here. We'd all be better mothers if we lived closer together." That stuck with me . . . I'm a better person when I have friends/sisters to laugh with inbetween all the chores and chaos.

So, I too am a big pretender. For example, when I clean the house I become my mother, who is very good at putting everything in it's place. When I'm driving alone on a road trip and I'm getting tired I work myself up into a soap opera like scenario...I can even make myself cry...and that keeps me awake and passes the time. Now you think I'm a wacko. Great.

E.C. Jenny,
If I called you a wacko I would be putting myself in that same category...that ain't gonna happen!! It just shows how well suited we are for each other

I love the idea of pretending but I can't say I've tried it....yet. I'm afraid I lack the level of imagination needed but maybe I can pretend that's not true. I'll have to get back to you. Love the idea!
